In their second venture in as many years Hot Spot Coffee’s new café is better than ever. Hot Spot Coffee started in 2005 when owners John & Shannon Kromm moved here from Oregon and realized their wasn’t any suitable coffee here. Sure there are Starbucks and a few other local places scattered across middle Tennessee, but the overall market is nothing compared to the west coast. We believe there needs to be more variety.

The first carnation of Hot Spot is one they were most familiar with, drive-thru only service. It was a small kiosk in the middle of Brentwood, the shack was literally 6 ft. by 8 ft. wide. They honed their skills in their new climate by preparing specialty coffee drinks to busy Brentwood professionals. This, however, was only the first chapter. "We had originally wanted to be in Franklin so when the opportunity presented itself to have a café and drive-thru we jumped on it."

The new Hot Spot Coffee is located on the west side of historic downtown Franklin on New Hwy 96 at the corner of downs blvd. in the Walgreen’s shopping center. Hot Spot Coffee has truly evolved from a one stop coffee shop to a full café featuring something for everyone. The inside is beautifully decorated with a warm comforting almost beach shack atmosphere. The café features free wireless internet for people to come check email or get some work done away from the office.

The final piece of the puzzle was the addition of a drive-thru. Hot Spot Coffee now has the only specialty coffee drive-thru on the west side of Franklin. The drive-thru is perfect for many people who live in the area who commute to work every morning. One of the unique aspect of the drive-thru is that it does not have an intercom system, and the customer is required to have a conversation with the barista. "In coffee, people know what they like, and it can get very specific, down to the quarter of a packet of Splenda, so we need to be able to talk to our customers face to face to understand all of the parameters. Plus, it really doesn’t take any longer than if there were an intercom."

Although we have many avenues, our espresso is what we’re all about. Hot Spot Coffee is the only coffee shop in TN and in much of the entire southeast to serve the ultra premium Italian espresso line Segafredo Zanetti. It is the best tasting, smoothest espresso anywhere. If people shy away from espresso based beverages such as lattes and mochas before because of espresso’s strong bitter taste they really need to try our espresso. If the quality of espresso was not enough we have barely begun to scratch the surface of what is available at Hot Spot Coffee, from cold coffee drinks, to teas, fruit smoothies, and even lunch. Hot Spot also serves a full food menu beginning at 10:30 and call ahead orders may be picked up at the drive-thru.
